God’s Number One Controversy with Mankind is ‘Unbelief’ – “NOT SIN”

‘Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; ‘

Hebrews 3:12

Unbelief! It’s a horrific word. The only sin that will send people to the lake of fire is unbelief. When they refuse to believe what God has so plainly said for salvation. In Hebrews 3 & 4, we find God’s number one controversy with the human race…‘UNBELIEF’. Let’s read Hebrews 3:12 again:

Hebrews 3:12

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart (of gross immorality? Nope. An evil heart of adultery? No. An evil heart of being addicted to drugs or an evil heart of anything else you can think of? No! But what?) of unbelief (and when there is NO Faith it is easy to do what), in departing from the living God.”

Again, God’s number one controversy with mankind is ‘Unbelief’. The human race hasn’t changed one bit since the fall. Mankind’s problem isn’t drug addiction, immorality, or any other sins of the flesh (or thought). Mankind’s problem is unbelief!

The human race since the fall had a sin dilemma, but sin “old Adam” was dealt with at the cross (Hebrews 1:3), Christ reconciled ALL mankind to God by and through His death, burial, and resurrection (2 Corinthians 5:14-21). So what’s the problem? Mankind will not believe it, they can’t take God at His word, no faith. The human race rejects God’s FREE GIFT of salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.

The opposite of unbelief is faith and without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). And so you have it so clearly delineated in Hebrews chapter three and four God’s number one controversy with the human race, UNBELIEF. The hearts of mankind have been hardened because they refuse to believe what God has said regarding His Son, Jesus Christ, the Truth, the gospel, and the free gift of salvation.

To get a better understanding of what Paul is talking about when he says “an evil heart of ‘UNBELIEF'”, we need to back up a few verses to Hebrews 3:7-11.

Hebrews 3:7-11

‘Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice (God expects mankind to believe Him especially when He removes the veil and gives them understanding), Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers (remember Paul is addressing his kinsman, Jews, so he is going back into Israel’s history & the nation coming out of Egypt and gathering around Mt. Sinai in preparation to enter the promised land) tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

Remember the apostle Paul is writing to Hebrew believers on the fence about Jesus Christ. They’ve come out of Judaism making the hard break from their religion but were having second thoughts. After all, Judaism has been drummed into all Jews from the time they could walk. So they were questioning… is this Jesus of Nazareth really Who He said He was? Is He really the Messiah, the Redeemer of mankind? This is what Paul is dealing with and he is addressing his kinsman by going all the way back into Israel’s history at Kadesh Barnea to make his point.

Kadesh Barnea

Here is a quick summary of events leading up to “Kadesh Barnea”: The nation of Israel is led out of Egypt by Moses, then encamped at Mt. Sinai where God gives Moses the law and instructions to build the tabernacle. Now within a matter of two years, the nation of Israel has the Law of Moses and the tabernacle and now ready to make their way to the promised land.

‘“Then we set out from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea. I said to you, ‘You have come to the hill country of the Amorites which the Lord our God is about to give us. See, the Lord your God has placed the land before you; go up, take possession, as the Lord , the God of your fathers, has spoken to you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’ ‘

Deuteronomy 1:19-21

The nation of Israel is encamped at the gates of the Promised Land in Kadesh Barnea. All they have to do is walk in and possess the land. God told them… He would drive their enemies out using hornets just go in and possess the land, there will be no opposition, you don’t have to fear the Canaanites, because they will be gone. You don’t have to worry about food or shelter because you’re going to take over their homes, farms, and vineyards. God allowed the Canaanites to live and work for 400 years preparing the land for Israel, a land of milk and honey. But what Israel does is unimaginable? They tell God we can’t do it, the men there are stronger than us. There are also Giants in the land. They did NOT BELIEVE what God told them, they couldn’t take God at His word.

So what was it that prevented the nation of Israel from entering the promise land? Unbelief…! They had no faith in what God told them.

Now, let’s go back into Israel’s past to see what Paul is talking about in Hebrews 3:12 & 3:7-11. Let’s look at Exodus chapter 23 verse 20-32.

The Setting: the nation of Israel had come out of Egypt and are encamped around Mt. Sinai and the Lord is speaking to Moses. This is shortly before God gives Moses the instructions to build the tabernacle (Exodus 25). God is already telling the Israelites what He will do for them and what’s just around the corner.

Now Exodus 23:20-32

Exodus 23:20-33

20. ‘“Behold, I send an Angel (the Lord, Jesus Christ) before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared (the promised land, the land the Lord promised Abraham in Genesis 12 & 15, Israel).

21. Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.

22. But if (conditional) you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.

23. For My Angel (Christ) will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off (Christ Himself will destroy & move out these wicked Gentile nations).

24. You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.

25. “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

26. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

27. “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

28. And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.

29. I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.

30. Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.

31. And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the River (these boundries of the land God gave to Israel, not the tiny strip of land the nationis on now). For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.

32. You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”’

In Conclusion

God’s Number One Controversy with the Human Race is “Unbelief”

It’s important to note that it was only months prior to the events Kadesh-Barnea that the people of Israel demanded Aaron make a golden calf. And Israel fell into the abyss of moral degradation and yes of course God dealt with it. Yet it is amazing that when they get up to the gateway of the promised land and Israel rejects God’s offer to take the land without lifting a finger. God doesn’t bring up their horrible sins of the flesh or their worshiping of the golden calf or any other sin. The only sin that prevented Israel from entering God’s rest was UNBELIEF.

Unbelief is the world’s greatest problem. Even in our beloved America, we’ve become a nation of unbelief. We’ve lost our faith!

As a nation of people, we no longer have any respect for the word of God and the absolutes contained in the Bible. And we’re suffering the consequences.

The Best is Yet to Come for the Body of Christ “Blessed Hope”

The Best is Yet to Come for the Body of Christ “Blessed Hope”

God’s word is full of Bible verses telling us about the “hope” (ἐλπίς/G1680/elpis) we have. This hope isn’t maybe, it’s a guaranteed hope.

The hope we have as believers isn’t something good may happen if everything lines up correctly. Or if I do just enough things will get better. Horrors NO. Hope for the believer has nothing to do with this world or the world system (Romans 12:1-2). Our hope is in Christ alone, our hope is a guarantee from the God of Glory Himself and He has promised us (because we believed the gospel alone by faith alone) an eternity that is going to be glorious and so wonderful.

We know, we should know, we MUST KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that the best is yet to come, and it will be glorious.

The apostle Paul, Holy Spirit inspired, called the rapture our blessed hope because he himself had seen a glimpse of heaven (2 Corinthians 12:1-10). Paul saw first hand what a glorious and amazingly wonderful future is ahead for the body of Christ.

‘looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, ‘

Titus 2:13

‘When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.’

Colossians 3:4

What a wonderful thing we have as blood-bought believers in our “blessed hope”. That one day dead or alive, we will be in the presence of the Lord in glory forever.

‘But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.’

I Thessalonians 4:13-18

JD Greear Southern Baptist Convention President Supports Abortionist Joe Biden of Pro-Life President Donald Trump

JD Greear Southern Baptist Convention President Supports Abortionist Joe Biden of Pro-Life President Donald Trump

Leaders of the unholy church: John Piper, Russel Moore, David Platt, J.D. Greear. Who together accomplished their goal by deceiving many Christians that it is okay to vote for Joe Biden who is 100% in support of killing unborn babies at any time for no reason even if the baby survives the procedure “infanticide”.

Horrors! These are evil men, emissaries of Satan.

‘For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.’II Corinthians 11:13-15

Stop and read those verses again and then read them again. What is Paul telling us to look for? What are the false teachers going to do? No doubt they will talk about Jesus. They may even talk about the resurrection. But they are emissaries of satan using just enough of the Truth to get you hooked then they slip in 20% of the lie to get you off the mark.

That template hasn’t changed since Satan realized he could not crush the early Church and instead worked his way into the Church (Acts 20:29-32). Now how are you going to know? Does what a Pastor proclaim line up with Scripture from Genesis to Revelation? Do they line up with Scripture constantly? Are they on track? Are they even using Scripture? Do you even know if they are lining up with Scripture?

The “god of this world”

As Paul identifies Satan in 2 Corinthians 4:4. The “god of this world” is “the” expert on confusing the issues because he is the father of lies. He is better than anyone at using the Word of God to send people off in the wrong direction. When it comes to salvation and doctrine all that matters is a “bullseye”.  And that’s why we have the Word of God, there is no excuse for mankind to be off the mark when it comes to the gospel and doctrine. Again, Satan is the master at confusing the issues, and his goal is to move mankind off the mark.

God does not allow mankind to be off the mark when it comes to the gospel. Mankind can’t be close, just a bit off from Paul’s Gospel of salvation (Galatians 1:6-9). No, God expects us to know the gospel and believe. That’s why we have the Word of God. That’s why we have the Truth. And we have to make sure that we’re right on or we’re going to miss it.

Satan is the expert at getting people to miss the bulls-eye. He can bring in 80% of Truth that sounds awesome. But it’s that other 20% of error that is going to lead people to their eternal doom.

Read it Again

II Corinthians 11:14-15

“And no marvel; (don’t be amazed) for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (Satan doesn’t promote only skid row he can make the most beautiful things on the planet. So it is with false teachers, it sounds so good.) 15. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers (the false teachers under his control) also be transformed as the ministers of (what?) righteousness;.…(read it, again and again, I know most just read over this word but it’s crucial to grasp. That Satan and his “Pastors” emissaries can promote good things.)… whose end will be according to their works (as James 3:1 makes so clear false teachers will face harsher judgment).

In Conclusion

There is no doubt what J.D. Greear and others like John Piper have stated with regard to abortion and Christian’s voting was meant to confuse the issues. These emissaries of Satan deliberately deceived millions into thinking that murdering the unborn is NOT A TOP TIER ISSUE. And should NOT be considered when choosing the next President of our country. Anathema!

Blood-bought Christians should examine every word that comes out of the mouths of pastors and Bible teachers. Regardless of who they are and how great of a following they have. And if what they say does not line up with Scripture then they are a false teacher.

‘Beloved, do not believe every spirit (just because it sounds good or the pastor has a great following and is a gifted speaker don’t just believe it is what John clear admonishes), but test (examine what they are saying against the full counsel of the God) the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ‘

I John 4:1

‘By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.’

I John 4:2-3

Excerpt from a News Article

Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear claims ‘Politics matter, but they are not an issue of first importance.’ Greear: ‘If all you do is talk about the wickedness of abortion and you never really talk about empowering the poor or how deflating, dehumanizing discrimination is, then chances are you are more influenced by Fox News than you are the Bible.’ In a podcast and blog post, Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President J.D. Greear claimed how Christians vote is not a test of fellowship in the church. Really? So, organized murder is not an issue of first importance? Because that is what abortion is—state-sanction murder of babies. Of course, Greear does the usual disclaimer that politics matter and that there are clearly sacred Christian convictions that must influence politics. However, he won’t judge someone’s “political calculus.” “I have my own convictions,” Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear said. “ […]

Five Absolute Truths from Scripture

Five Absolute Truths from Scripture

Absolute truth is something that is true at all times regardless of circumstances. In other words, there are no round squares.

Here are five Absolute Truths from Scripture:

  1. Jesus Christ is the “Truth”, the ONLY WAY for salvation. John14:6
  2. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
  3. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission [forgiveness] of sin. Hebrews 9:22
  4. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6
  5. Jesus Christ will rule on earth from Davids Throne in Jerusalem. (2 Samuel 7:16; Isaiah 2:2; Daniel 2:44, Daniel 7:14; Zechariah 14:9: Revelation 19:15)

Pray for America Pray for ALL Mankind Pray for the Men and Women in High Places – Pray! Pray! Pray!

Pray for America Pray for ALL Mankind Pray for the Men and Women in High Places – Pray! Pray! Pray!

‘For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, ‘

I Timothy 2:3

We should never neglect to pray for America and the men and women in high places (regardless of party affiliation). That indeed we might continue to enjoy liberty and the freedoms like no other nation in history. Without a doubt, we all take our freedoms for granted, even as Christians, that this is just the norm. No, it isn’t. America has been blessed far beyond any nation and the Grace of God has been poured out on Americans like no other people on earth, and we can never take it for granted. Let’s look at the Lord’s admonition for us with regard to praying for men and women in authority and for ALL mankind. In 1 Timothy 2:

I Timothy 2:1-2

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; (We don’t just pray for men around us, our family, friends, and neighbors, the Lord encourages us to pray for men and women in high places. For Christian today it’s our Mayors, Governors, Presidents, and congressmen.) 2. For kings, for all that are in authority; (And why do we pray for our men and women in high places? Whether we believe it or not it’s for our own good! We are to pray for these men so that) that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

Just to repeat. The Lord is encouraging believers to pray for men and women in high places for our benefit! And if members of the body of Christ are living quiet and peaceable lives then you can rest assured that the communities around us are living relatively peaceable. God doesn’t want us to just grovel in abject poverty and under the heavy boot of some foreign power. God wants us to live quiet and peaceable lives. And we’re to pray to that end.

That’s what our government is for. And I imagine this is where our founding fathers got the term that we are in the pursuit of what? Happiness. That’s our God-given right—the pursuit of happiness. And no other nation in the history of mankind has the opportunity to pursue happiness like the United States of America.

So, Pray! Pray!
