God’s word is full of Bible verses telling us about the “hope” (ἐλπίς/G1680/elpis) we have. This hope isn’t maybe, it’s a guaranteed hope.
The hope we have as believers isn’t something good may happen if everything lines up correctly. Or if I do just enough things will get better. Horrors NO. Hope for the believer has nothing to do with this world or the world system (Romans 12:1-2). Our hope is in Christ alone, our hope is a guarantee from the God of Glory Himself and He has promised us (because we believed the gospel alone by faith alone) an eternity that is going to be glorious and so wonderful.
We know, we should know, we MUST KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that the best is yet to come, and it will be glorious.
The apostle Paul, Holy Spirit inspired, called the rapture our blessed hope because he himself had seen a glimpse of heaven (2 Corinthians 12:1-10). Paul saw first hand what a glorious and amazingly wonderful future is ahead for the body of Christ.
‘looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, ‘
Titus 2:13
‘When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.’
Colossians 3:4
What a wonderful thing we have as blood-bought believers in our “blessed hope”. That one day dead or alive, we will be in the presence of the Lord in glory forever.
‘But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.’
I Thessalonians 4:13-18
