❓What to Do Now?
Application & Practice
You may be wondering, “What does this mean for me today? What do I do with this verse or promise when everything around me feels like it’s falling apart?”
The key to truly understanding and applying God’s promises in your life is Bible study. It’s through the study of God’s Word that we gain the wisdom and revelation we need to rest in His sovereignty and power.
When I first encountered the idea of “resting in God’s promises” many years ago, I didn’t fully grasp it. It was just a phrase. But today, after years of immersing myself in Scripture, I can say with full confidence: I know what it means. It means I can cast all my cares on Him, knowing He will carry me through anything. Why? Because I’ve learned through Bible study that He is faithful, trustworthy, and all-powerful.
Bible study strengthens your faith. God desires our faith—He wants us to believe Him because of who He is. The more we know about Christ, the stronger our faith becomes. And the only way we can know more about Christ is by studying His Word. The more we immerse ourselves in Scripture, the more we grow in our understanding of God’s character, His promises, and His love for us.
Paul’s prayers in Ephesians 1 and 3 reveal something vital: “God may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17) and “that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). This is how we grow in our understanding of God and His love for us. It’s not enough to just read verses; we must study them, meditate on them, and apply them to our lives.
So, what should you do now? Start by committing to study the Bible regularly. This isn’t about checking off a box, but about getting to know God more deeply, understanding His promises, and learning to trust in His faithfulness. The more you know God’s Word, the more you will be able to rest in His promises, no matter your circumstances.
